Wedding News/Blog

Gosh, I didn’t realize we hadn’t updated this blog in two months… sorry, everyone!

Well let’s see what we’ve done:

  • moved Chrissy into our new apartment
  • finished booking all florists, caterers, sound guys, videographers, photographers, etc
  • chose our music and musicians
  • started our premartial counseling
  • had numerous showers (including a manshower for Robbie!)
  • mailed out invitations and reception cards
  • got our wedding bands!

We have 99% of our  RSVPs in, and are working on seating arrangements for the wedding, one of the last big endeavors to take care of before the big day!  We have 18 days to go and are super excited, but also really busy.  We hope you are doing well and look forward to seeing you in less than three weeks

Hello again! I just thought I would post some pictures from our trip last weekend. Robbie, Mary, and I drove down to San Luis Obispo to see my two beautiful roommates from college graduate (yay!). They both were in intense 5 year programs, and definitely deserved all the congratulations and celebrations they received this weekend! Kathryn graduated with a degree in biology, and Jessica graduated with a degree in architecture. It was overall just a great weekend! Here are some pics…

We got home on Sunday evening…which just happened to be both Robbie’s 25th birthday as well as father’s day. i took Robbie to Sundance Steak House (yum!) for his birthday dinner, then threw him a surprise party, which was a great success! He was SO surprised and had absolutely no idea what was going on. It was really fun :)

We met with Wendy (our wedding planner) and Kim (our caterer) on tuesday afternoon to see the church at SFC as well as my dad’s back yard to finalize up some details. I’m so excited I can’t wait!!

countdown to August 30…..71 days!

Okay, sorry for the lame pun….but I wasn’t feeling very creative and that was the best i could do. BUT there has been a lot of news since our last update (which was way too long ago i apologize). In the span of less than a week, Robbie and I bought a new car (black 2008 hyundai elantra!) and found and signed the lease to our first apartment together!! We both had been looking at craigstlist constantly for the last 3 months, hoping that a “diamond in the rough” would suddenly become available and would have all of the features we are looking for (gas stove, good neighborhood, big kitchen, nice-but not too big community, allows cats, etc.) and sure enough…one did! We jumped on it and went to take a look at it as soon as we possibly could. While taking a tour of it, we both sorta knew that this was the place for us.

It is set in a very small community of about 20 other units/apartments. But unlike a normal “apartment complex”, ours is basically one long driveway with 2 or 3 sets of duplexes (1 story) and one tiny 2 story building with approximately 6 smaller apartments (i think). So it’s the perfect size in our minds. Each building is painted a different color too, which makes this community unique (our little duplex is painted orange of course!) The driveway and buildings are covered by the trees above, and there are 2 patio/bbq areas that are perfect for summer entertaining. Apparently the group of people who live there have bbqs and potlucks all the time. We just knew when we heard this (and when the landlord told us that most of the people living there are foodies!) that this was the perfect place for us. We actually ended up telling the landlord that we needed to talk and think about it before we signed a lease…but we got about 20 feet down the road and decided to turn back around and take it. It’s that perfect!! Unfortunately we have to wait a while to move in…I’ll move in on Aug 1, and Robbie will move in after the wedding.

Here are some pictures of our new place! Keep in mind a few things:
1- the landlord was using our apartment as storage for a garage sale they are having, so obviously all that junk will be gone
2- they are putting in brand new cabinets, counters, and a dishwasher (yay!) in the kitchen
3- painting in the kitchen is not finished yet (and i think they might be repainting the living room as well)

We have new engagement photos online thanks to our incomparable photographer Emily Scott! You can view them at her flickr site here.

Check them out! They are amazing!

Hello all! well i think the title of the blog speaks for itself…this weekend we went cake testing! We took advantage of the bi-monthly free cake testing at Icing on the Cake in Los Gatos. However, we were pretty disappointed with how it turned out and ultimately decided that we would go elsewhere for our cake. First off, they didn’t have our number one choice of flavor (red velvet). so that was an immediate red flag. Secondly, they currently are not doing any cakes with fondant (the thick white frosting like covering on most wedding cakes). So in the end, we will just have to try out some more bakers and taste some more delicious cake. Oh darn. life is hard.

It was a great Saturday though- our good friends and newlyweds Emily and Aaron Scott came to the tasting with us and we ended up exploring Los Gatos for most of the day. then robbie and i headed out to his soccer game (they’re going to the finals!). After that Emily took our engagement photos!!! They turned out perfectly and we are SO excited about them.  Emily is a super talented photographer and did a great job with all the photos. We’ll post some up soon! Then we had a fun night involving our friends, take-out, video games, and rubber stamps. Cake testing was pretty much the full extent of our wedding planning however- we decided that we needed a little break from the craziness once we had our major vendors booked. I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

Can anyone recommend a good DJ ??

Well our weekends are definitely getting more and more busy as we try to balance having lives outside of work, wedding planning, and all the other exciting things going on these days! But it’s all been fun, and we’re having a great time so far.

So our weekend started off with an epic Sharks game on Friday night (oh yeah…we were there!) Robbie surprised me on Thursday afternoon with tickets to the game. It was awesome! and they won of course. We had a great time and hopefully they keep up the winning streak (we’re watching game 6 as I’m writing this- so i hope they win). Here’s a pic of us at the game:

Mary and Kathryn (bridesmaids) were in town this weekend, so it was great not only to spend some time with them, but they were also able to come to a tasting with our caterer on Saturday! So that morning, the girls, me, robbie, and dave (robbie’s bro & best man) headed over the hill to Santa Cruz to try some delicious food and work out the details of our menu (you guys will have to wait to find out what’s on it, sorry!). We all had a great time and the food was awesome! We’re really excited about it. Here’s a pic of all of us in the tasting room:

So after the tasting we went to cheer on Robbie as he played in his soccer game. They won, yay! Here’s a picture of us girls with our signs:

And here’s one of us after the game:

So today (sunday), we met with our florist for the first time to discuss the details of all the bouquets, centerpieces, yada yada. I personally really enjoyed this meeting (i think robbie did too…just probably not as much as i did) and i think some of the ideas we came up with are going to be gorgeous and perfect for our wedding! I can’t wait.

So that was our relatively productive weekend. Back to another work week…with a meeting or two with our photographer thrown in there somewhere. Hope you had a great weekend!

Hello to all our wonderful family and friends!!

Welcome to our wedding website! We hope that this site is not only helpful for you to find information about our wedding date, location, time, etc. but also fun to look at all of our pictures from the past four years of our relationship. Just a few notes about the different pages on the website…you can look at embarrassing pictures and learn about our bridal party, get information about where the ceremony & reception are going to be held as well as about the hotel situation (coming soon i promise!), see all of our registries, and hear about how Robbie and I fell in love and what we’ve been up to over the last four years. Finally, you’ll find THIS page! we thought it would be fun to keep a running update of all of our planning and random thoughts throughout the planning process over the upcoming four months.

So for a quick update on the planning progress…so far we have set a date (phew), reserved locations, selected a photographer and a wedding planner, chosen our bridal party, purchased a wedding dress (yay) and bridesmaids’ dresses, sent save the dates, and finished our registries. It’s comin’ along pretty well so far I think! This weekend we are doing a tasting with our caterer and meeting with a florist to discuss details. It’s been a really great process so far, and Robbie and I are definitely trying to relish every minute of it!!

We want you all to know how near and dear you are to our hearts. We are so excited and honored that you are going to be a part of our “big day” and we could not imagine it without each and every one of you!

Stay tuned for more updates and pictures!!
